Scotts Ferry General Store has been a landmark in the heart of Calhoun County, Florida, for generations. Once a humble stop along State Road 71, it served as a vital outpost for locals, fishermen, and travelers heading to the Gulf Coast. Over the decades, the store experienced seasons of growth and decline—changing hands, enduring floods, and witnessing the shifting tides of small-town life. In 2024, our family took on the challenge of breathing new life into this historic property in Scotts Ferry, Florida, restoring its charm while expanding it into a unique destination that now includes a health-focused general store, a rustic campground, and a peaceful riverside retreat. Today, we’re honored to carry on the legacy of Scotts Ferry, preserving its roots while building something new for the community and future generations to enjoy.
At Scotts Ferry General Store and Campground our mission is to revive the spirit of simple, wholesome living by creating a place where community, health, and nature come together. We’re committed to offering clean, thoughtfully sourced products in our store, and providing a peaceful, family-friendly environment where guests can reconnect—with the outdoors, with each other, and with our Creator. Whether you're stocking up on real food, spending the night under the stars, or just stopping by for a quiet moment by the river, we want every part of your experience to reflect care, integrity, and the beauty of slowing down. We're building a space that feels like a wellness retreat—where rest, nourishment, and reconnection are always within reach.
We’re just getting started at Scotts Ferry. In the coming months, we’ll be introducing geodesic dome tents to create a one-of-a-kind glamping experience, along with wellness-focused features like a hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge. While those upgrades are on the horizon, we’re also planning longer-term renovations to the bathhouse, cabins, and general store. The cabins have already received a few small updates, but we’re excited to fully renovate them to make stays more comfortable and inviting. Behind the store, we’re preparing space for a 1–2 acre food forest and community garden. Our dream is to help revive the Master Gardener program in Calhoun County—teaching people how to grow their own food and eventually sell fresh, organic produce right here in our store. With limited access to clean, local food in our area, we also plan to expand our selection of locally raised meats. Every step we take in Scotts Ferry is guided by a deep commitment to health, community, and sustainability—growing something meaningful for generations to come.
